Instructions for Use
Examine the Device
- Check the name and colored label of your device to make sure that it contains Liraglutide.
- Remove the device cap. The solution should appear clear and colorless. Do not use if the solution is frozen or cloudy.
Select Injection Area
- Recommended areas for subcutaneous injection include the abdomen, thighs, or upper arms. Rotate between different sites to prevent irritation. Consult a healthcare provider for guidance on the best site for you.
Attach the Needle
- Remove the paper tab from a new disposable needle and attach it tightly onto the device.
- Pull off the outer needle cap, set it aside, then remove and discard the inner needle cap.
- Important: Always use a new needle for each injection and avoid using bent or damaged needles.
Check the Device Flow
- Check the flow of the device before the first injection. Turn the dose selector to align with the flow check symbol.
- With the needle pointing upward, gently tap the cartridge to gather any air bubbles.
- Press the dose button until ‘0 mg’ aligns with the pointer. A drop of solution should appear at the needle tip; if not, repeat the step up to four times. If no drop appears after multiple attempts, replace the needle and repeat.
Set the Dose
- Verify the pointer aligns with ‘0 mg.’
- Turn the dose selector to the prescribed dose (0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, or 1.8 mg).
- Always use the dose counter and dose pointer to see how much mg you have selected before injecting this medicine.
Inject the Dose
- Insert the needle into the skin using the injection technique advised by your healthcare provider.
- Press and hold the dose button until ‘0 mg’ aligns with the pointer.
- Keep the needle under the skin for at least 6 seconds to ensure that the full dose is administered.
Post-Injection Precautions
- Remove the needle, place the outer needle cap back on, and unscrew it from the device. Dispose of the needle carefully.
- Replace the device cap and store the device as per guidelines (refer to the ‘Storage of Liraglutide Biocon’ section).
