Biolide

For Effective Weight Management

Biolide is a weight loss medicine that contains the active substance Liraglutide. It is similar to a natural occurring hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that is released from the intestine after a meal. Biolide works by acting on receptors in the brain that controls one’s appetite, leading one to feel fuller. This can, in turn, stave off hunger and help control weight gain. Biolide is used to aid weight loss among adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above. When combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, Biolide aids in sustainable weight loss for individuals with chronic obesity or weight-related health conditions.

Indications for Use

Adults (18+ years)

  • With a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or greater (obese)
  • Or a BMI of 27 kg/m² to less than 30 kg/m² (overweight) with weight-related health conditions (such as high blood pressure, diabetes, abnormal levels of fats in the blood, and breathing problems during sleep).

Adolescents (12+ years)

  • Diagnosed with obesity
  • With a body weight above 60 kg

How Biolide Works

Biolide contains Liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue with 97% homology to human GLP-1.

The mechanism of action includes:

GLP-1 Receptor Activation

Liraglutide binds to and activates the GLP-1 receptor, helping control hunger by increasing feelings of fullness and reducing food intake.

Reduction of Fat Mass

Liraglutide promotes fat loss, especially in visceral areas, while minimally affecting subcutaneous fat.

Insulin and Glucagon Regulation

Stimulates insulin secretion and reduces glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner, aiding in glycaemic control.

Studies have shown that Liraglutide helps improve and sustain beta-cell function, aiding long-term weight management and glucose control.

Recommended Treatment Guidelines

A healthcare provider will develop a tailored diet and exercise program at the start of the treatment, which should be maintained throughout the therapy with Biolide.

Potential Side Effects

Like all medications, Biolide may cause side effects in some patients. It is essential to consult with a healthcare provider if any side effects occur.

Reduced kidney function or acute kidney failure
